[Spotlight] First Lady Michelle Obama

Future First Lady Michelle Obama graces the cover of September's Ebony Magazine. The issue hits stands on August 12th, you know I'm gonna get it. To me Michelle Obama exudes class, elegance and grace, everything a true black woman is.
Here's a sneak peek of the exclusive interview from Bossip.com:

On her style…“I do think what you wear is a reflection of who you are. I love to look glamorous when there’s a wonderful, purposeful event that is appropriate. But when I’m in Iowa campaigning with the girls, I am in Gap shorts and a T- shirt.”
On being a mom… “My first job in all honesty is going to continue to be mom-in-chief,” she says, “making sure that in this transition, which will be even more of a transition for the girls…that they are settled and that they know they will continue to be the center of our universe.”
On being married to Barack… “Barack and I—as partners, as friends and as lovers—we accessorize each other in many ways,” she said. “The best thing I love having on me is Barack on my arm and vice versa, whether it’s having him standing there smiling at me, or watching him mesmerize a crowd or talk to some seniors in a senior center.”
I wanna be just like her when I grow up.

My 9 Rules for Success

In this life success isn't about having a million dollars in the bank or working at the dream job. Success is to me is who you are inside and out, your ultimate growth values.
  1. Be Honest/Be Luv - with yourself and others

  2. Be Proactive - get out and grab the bull by the horns

  3. Insight - ask the right questions, be eager to learn

  4. Take Risks - get out of your comfort zone sometimes

  5. Make Yourself Invaluable

  6. Accept Yourself - failure is a given without this

  7. Attitude Is Everything - self-explanatory

  8. Have Patience - you gotta be flexible

  9. Aspiration - believe in your unlimited potential

At the end of the day, if you're not happy with yourself and who you are what do you really have?

[SpotLight] Vicky Stringer

Now this is an example of having a can't lose attitude that you just have to admire.

Vicky Stringer's story is amazing to me, young single mother wanted to live the good life. Instead of taking handouts she took to the streets and started selling drugs.

We've all seen the movies, and music videos, they make that lifestyle look so easy and glamorous but we all know the real deal . Well, Vicky fell into that trap and ended shooting someone and spending 7 years in prison.

Upon her release, she decided she was through with that life and decided to start hustling the book she wrote on her experience in prison, Let That Be The Reason. Today she is the CEO of Triple Crown Publications the leader in Urban Literature.

This just goes to show ANYBODY can turn there life around, if you have the strength, drive and ambition you can succeed.

I've read a couple books from Triple Crown here are my recommendations:
  1. Sheisty & Still Sheisty by TN Baker
  2. A Project Chick & A Hustlers Wife (excellent book) - Nikki Turner
  3. Crack Head (good too) - Lisa Lennox
  4. Blinded - Kashamba Williams

Morning Motivation

Only I can improve my situation. Today I will begin to do just that. - unknown

This is how I've been feeling these last couple days, with the job hunt, some family drama and the everyday situations I feel a calling in my soul to up the ante and take my life to that next level. Hey, this kinda reminds me of Kaizen.
